operations and add additional recycling streams including, but not limited to, household
recyclables, organics, and hard to recycle materials (foam, mattresses, tires, etc.), and items for
reuse in the Swap Shop. This site will serve 24 communities in Kalamazoo County, Berrien
County, St. Joseph County, and has the potential to serve other neighboring communities.

Emmet County seeks guidance with short and midterm internal capital budgeting and financial planning for its operational scaling. Aspects of work would include but limited to site operational financial planning and pricing review of product, capital budgeting and prioritization of infrastructure and equipment, cost analysis and review of migration from windrow to aerated static pile system. Description
Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) has provided general planning support to the western six counties of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for over 50 years and is aiming to pilot a community supported and locally operated compost facility in Houghton County, Michigan aimed at supporting the City of Hancock, Houghton and Calumet. WUPPDR is seeking engineering site designs plans for its pilot compost facility that consider novel ideas on nature-based solutions for large scale compost facilities operations. The engineering site designs should consider holistic nature-based solutions to a variety of daily operational requirements such as but not limited to wastewater, leachate management and stormwater management through ecologically minded nature-based solutions.

West Michigan Environmental Action Council (WMEAC) Materials Management Plan Technical Assistance
Description
West Michigan Environmental Action Council (WMEAC) initiated the Muskegon County Recycling Network to enhance recycling efforts within the county. Subsequently, an EGLE-funded Feasibility Study was conducted, comprehensively updating existing conditions and providing actionable recommendations. These recommendations are now being implemented by the coalition's Recycling Leadership Team, coordinated by WMEAC. To further this initiative, WMEAC and the Recycling Leadership Team seek assistance for three key recommendations aimed at improving the county's recycling infrastructure and waste management practices, all in alignment with county materials management planning and Pt. 115.

SCOPS Mechanical Process Design Technical Assistance
Description
SCOPS Coating Technologies, a coatings company launched out of MSU, has developed a repulpable and compostable paper coating that allows for heat sealing and moisture resistance and does not contain PFAs. SCOPS seeks technical assistance to graduate from what is now manual production to a preliminary design to mechanize production. The goal is to develop a cost-conscience new design that can unroll paper, coat it, heat it, and then reroll it resulting in at least a couple of feet of consistently manufactured product per minute. There are off the shelf systems that could be purchased, but are costly, so identifying a more cost-conscience design is desired.
